Tot School is simply creating meaningful play activities where learning can take place. The ultimate goal of Tot School is to begin to develop a love of learning, and above all, have fun!
Tot School is different for everyone. It is child-led but parent-encouraged, meaning I create the engaging activities for the learning to take place, but G leads the way through them. I encourage learning as we go, but it is never forced. The bottom line: Tot School is learning through play.
G and I will be working in themes that last about 2 weeks. I create very loose plans for each day for our Tot School time, but as with any toddler, flexibility is key. Some days the mood isn't right for a particular activity, some days we have appointments that interfere with our schedule, other days we decide to do another fun activity. Being flexible will make Tot School much more enjoyable for both you and your toddler!
Each week I try to include these skills into our playtime: Math, Art, Cooking, and of course, Literacy.
